Airport Map

Hurghada International Airport is one of the most important airports on Egypt’s Red Sea coast and consists of two main terminals:

  • Terminal 1: Old terminal, mainly used for domestic flights
  • Terminal 2: Modern terminal opened in 2014, mainly used for international flights

Terminal 2 (Main Terminal)

Terminal 2 is the airport’s main terminal, opened in 2014, with major renovation work completed in 2021. Details of this modern terminal:

Ground Floor (0) – Arrivals Floor

Passenger Flow (Arrival):

  1. Disembarking from an airplane
  2. Passport control
  3. Baggage claim area
  4. Customs control
  5. Arrival hall (Meeters & Greeters area)

Control and Processing Points:

  • Arrival Visa Counters: Just before entering passport control, on the left side of the main corridor
  • Passport Control Counters: At the end of the arrival corridor, 20 passport control points (1-10 for Egyptian citizens, 11-20 for foreign passengers)
  • Baggage Delivery Bands: After passport control, 8 bands (numbered 1-8)
  • Customs Control Zone: At the exit from the baggage claim area, divided into Green and Red lines
  • Lost Property Office: On the opposite side of the baggage claim area, in line with lanes 3 and 4

Service Points:

  • Information Desk: In the center of the arrival hall, opposite the main exit doors
  • Foreign Exchange Offices:
    • National Bank of Egypt: On the left side of the main exit gates
    • Banque Misr: On the right side of the main exit doors
  • ATMs: Next to the exchange offices and at various points in the arrival hall (6 in total)
  • Restrooms:
    • On the corridor before passport control
    • In the baggage claim area, behind lanes 2 and 7
    • In the arrival hall, on both sides of the main exit doors
  • Baby Care Rooms: Inside the main restrooms
  • Disabled Toilets: Available in all toilet groups
  • Masjid: In the east corner of the arrival hall
  • First Aid/Health Center: On the west side of the arrival hall, behind the information desk
  • SIM Card Points of Sale:
    • Vodafone: Right side of the main exit in the arrival hall
    • Orange: On the left side of the main exit in the arrival hall
    • We: In the center of the arrival hall
  • Car Rental Companies: At the exit of the arrival hall, lined up on the left:

Commercial Areas:

  • Duty Free (Tax Free): Immediately after the customs control exit, in the eastern part of the arrival hall (large area)
  • Pharmacy: Next to the first aid center
  • Coffee Shops:
    • Costa Coffee In the central part of the arrival hall
    • Cafe Bon Appetit: In the west corner of the arrival hall
  • Fast Food: A small food court in the northeast corner of the arrival hall
  • Souvenir Shops: 4 small shops around the arrival hall

First Floor (1) – Departures Floor

  7. Departure gates/waiting areas

Control and Processing Points:

  • Terminal Entrance Security Check: Immediately after the main entrance gates
  • Check-in Counters: A total of 72 counters, in three main zones:
    • Zone A (1-24): Mainly EgyptAir and Star Alliance members
    • Zone B (25-48): Mainly charter flights and European airlines
    • Zone C (49-72): Mainly Middle Eastern and other airlines
  • Exit Passport Control: Behind the check-in area
    • Separate toll booths for Egyptian citizens on the left side
    • Toll booths for foreign visitors on the right side
  • Main Security Check: Immediately after passport control, 8 checkpoints

Service Points:

  • Information Desks:
    • At the entrance to the main terminal
    • In the center of the check-in area
    • In the waiting room
  • Exchange Offices and ATMs:
    • On both sides of the check-in area (pre-security)
    • In the lounge, next to the duty free area (after security)
  • Toilets:
    • At both ends of the check-in area
    • Before passport control
    • In the waiting room, near each door group
  • Masjids:
    • East corner of the check-in area (before security)
    • In the center of the waiting room (after security)
  • VIP/CIP Lounges:
    • EgyptAir Star Alliance Lounge: Opposite Gate 7
    • Pearl Lounge: Next to Gate 12
    • Entry requirements: Business/First Class passengers, members of the respective airline’s loyal customer program or for a fee
  • Smoking Areas: Special areas with glass windows at certain points in the waiting room
  • Children’s Playground: In the center of the main lounge

    • Souvenirs of Egypt (souvenirs): Next to duty free

    • Café Cairo: Opposite Gate 2

Flight Operation Areas:

  • Departure Gates: Total 18 doors (1-18), all with jet bridge connection
    • Gate 1-7: In the east wing of the Terminal
    • Gate 8-10: In the central part of the terminal
    • Gate 11-18: West wing of the Terminal
  • Transfer Counters: At the entrance of the passport control area, on the left side

External Areas:

  • Taxi Station: Right in front of Terminal 2 exit
  • Bus Stop: 50 meters to the right of the taxi stand
  • Parking:
    • Short-term parking: directly opposite the terminal building
    • Long-term parking: 300 meters west of the terminal building

Terminal 1 (Old Terminal)

Terminal 1 is the older terminal of the airport and is mainly used for domestic flights and some charter flights. It is less modern and smaller than Terminal 2.

Ground Floor – Arrivals Level

Passenger Flow (Arrival):

  1. Disembarkation from the plane (transfer to the terminal building, mostly by buses)
  2. Passport control
  3. Baggage claim area
  4. Customs control
  5. Arrival hall

Control and Processing Points:

  • Passport Control Counters: At the end of the arrival corridor, 8 passport control points
  • Baggage Delivery Bands: After passport control, 4 bands (A, B, C, D)
  • Customs Control Area: At the exit from the baggage claim area
  • Lost and Found: Next to baggage belt D

Service Points:

  • Information Desk: At the entrance of the arrival hall
  • Currency Exchange Office: In the center of the arrival hall (only 1)
  • ATMs: Next to the currency exchange office (2 pcs)
  • Restrooms: In the baggage claim area and in the arrival hall
  • Masjid: In a corner of the arrival hall
  • SIM Card Point of Sale: In the arrival hall (usually Vodafone only)
  • Car Rental: 2-3 companies in the arrival hall (subject to change)

Commercial Areas

  • Small Duty Free: After customs exit
  • Coffee Shop: 1 in the arrival hall
  • Souvenirs: A small store in the arrival hall

  • Currency Exchange Office and ATM: At one end of the check-in area
  • Restrooms: At the check-in area and in the waiting room
  • Masjid: In the waiting room
  • Smoking Area: In a corner of the waiting room

Commercial Areas

  • Small Duty Free: After security check
  • Food and Beverage: 2-3 cafes/restaurants in the waiting room
  • Souvenirs: Small shops in the waiting hall

Flight Operation Areas:

  • Departure Gates: 8 gates in total (A-H), most of them bus transfer to the aircraft, only 2-3 gates with jet bridge connection

External Areas:

  • Taxi Station: In front of the terminal exit
  • Bus Station: In front of the terminal building
  • Parking: A small area opposite the terminal
